Live Aid

Beck led an all star musical ensemble featuring members of Coldplay, The Flaming Lips and Hollywood celebrities in a rendition of Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas (Feed The World)' on December 8th in LA.

Closing his forty-minute set on night two of LA radio station KROQ's 'Almost Acoustic Christmas', Beck invited a host of musicians and friends on stage to sing the number. Coldplay's Chris Martin, actress Juliette Lewis, singer-song writer Jack Johnson, The Flaming Lips and their troupe of animal costumed friends who were a regular feature of their recently completed tour with Beck, joined the singer on the track.

The supergroup carried off the song thanks to a set of lyrics which members including Martin and Lewis, clutched to as they sang.

Also, Beck and the The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne performed a duet of Sonny and Cher's 'I Got You Babe' as part of an evening of bizarre covers at radio concert in the US at KCRW's A Sounds Eclectic Evening. Billed to appear at the fund-raiser were Norah Jones, Zero 7, Beth Orton and DJ Shadow. However, Beck and Wayne Coyne turned up to play, belting out a cover of 'I Got You Babe' - changing the lyrics to "I Got You Beck"/"I Got You Wayne".

MTV news reports that Beck also performed a four song solo set as well as his duets. The pair also performed Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings' 'Good Hearted Woman'. Beck then asked Orton to the stage for a cover of Rolling Stones' 'No Expectations', Norah Jones for a cover of 'Sleepless Nights' and ended with a cover of 'You're The One That I Want' with Zero 7's Sia Furler.
